The Sagamore Club is a private golf community designed by Jack Nicklaus and operated by Troon Golf. Opened in August 2003, the 18-hole golf course occupies gradual rolling terrain with upscale homes and real estate within and around its layout. Jack Nicklaus incorporates a great deal of risk/reward strategy in Sagamore’s design by using well placed water and bunker hazards, as well as positioning landing areas and greens to encourage the use of as many clubs and approach angles as possible. The course truly provides various distances, lines of play, and strategy to accommodate all levels of play.

Golf course superintendent Kyle Peigh utilized three assistants to make up his management team. He primarily scheduled daily tasks, projects, and work flow himself, but used his assistants to ensure these operations were executed properly. Assistants shared staff supervision duties, but each also had specific areas of responsibility including irrigation, chemical applications, and project management. During the final grow-in phase in the spring and summer of 2003, I supervised small group projects and managed irrigation related issues such as watering, maintenance, and repair. Through the remainder of 2003 and all of 2004, I continued to focus heavily on irrigation. Programming, daily watering and syringing, repair, installation, winterization, maintenance, head adjustment, and satellite box rewiring where my irrigation related responsibilities.
