MISSION STATEMENTS
Professional Mission
I aspire to become a golf course superintendent for a club that is passionate about its course and the
game of golf. I will utilize all of my resources to carry out my passion, which is providing superior
playability and conditioning, as well as assuming stewardship for the integrity of the golf course's
championship attributes. I will also work diligently to improve the detail and presentation of the golf
course and the professionalism of the maintenance department to ensure the club's #1 asset is distinguished
as an outstanding experience.
Personal Mission
I will continue to live on a foundation of integrity, honesty, optimism, loyalty, and faith. These are virtues
I will hold for as long as I live. My primary beliefs are based on taking responsibility for my own life and
viewing everything in it in the right perspective. This principle is the essence of being proactive; which
allows me to make the most of my situations, environment, and challenges. I will continue to find a comfortable
balance between personal life and career. I believe this is critical to maximizing life quality and the key to
maintaining growth, productivity, and contentment in the workplace. I plan to stay mentally, emotionally,
spiritually, and physically healthy, and help the people around me be the best they can be in life. Most
importantly, I will always strive to be a good husband, father, son, brother, friend, and neighbor throughout
the rest of my life.
BACKGROUND
I believe mobility and the ability to adapt to change during the years as an assistant superintendent is the key
to achieving success as a head golf course superintendent in today’s competitive market. I embraced this philosophy
while completing my Bachelor of Science degree in Turfgrass Management at Michigan State University. Therefore, my
proactive career path has given me 14 total years of experience, 9 as an assistant superintendent, at 5 different
golf courses across 5 states; each progressive move created through my own personal choice and patience.
My work experience has exposed me to various aspects of the golf profession and course management. I have had the
opportunity to work in public/resort golf, at a new construction/grow-in, and in the private, classical club sector –
where I feel my strongest abilities lie. Each course has offered a unique situation and set of challenges which has
greatly enhanced my development as an effective leader, turf manager, communicator, and student of the game of golf
and golf course architecture. I strongly believe this separates me from my colleagues, and has prepared me to succeed
as a head golf course superintendent.
The following illustrates my career path and indicates the key skill sets I developed from each course.
